What makes eyelashes thin and sparse?
- Wearing false eyelashes - While false eyelashes are often worn to enhance the natural lash, frequent application and removal can actually cause your own lashes to become brittle and break, or even pull out lashes at the root.
- Alopecia areata - This autoimmune condition can result in hair being lost from all over the body — including the scalp, beard, eyebrows and eyelashes. Treatment may include immunosuppressant medications.
- Chemotherapy - While not all chemotherapy drives hair loss, because it is designed to target fast-growing cells, such as those found in cancers, it can also damage fast-growing hair follicle cells. Find out more here.
- Telogen effluvium - Excess hair shedding, as telogen effluvium is more commonly known, is the result of an interruption to the hair growth cycle and can lead to hair loss that can affect the eyelashes. You can find out more about it here.
Can anything give me thicker lashes?
Yes. DOSE Lash contains bimatoprost, a drug that, in the UK, is only available on prescription. It has been shown to extend the growth phase of hair, resulting in longer, thicker lashes. DOSE Lash also contains conditioning agents to nourish and enhance lash growth.
DOSE Lash is designed to support regrowth of lashes but it’s not always possible to restore all lost hair. Some cases — such as hair loss due to alopecia areata — may also require further medical intervention.
